Like any good parent, God knows how to punish his children when they disobey. He perfectly knows what punishment works best in the grand scheme of things. This chapter introduces much of the heart of why God brings destruction in this book. This passage along with the next sermon summarizes chapters 2-6 and many other places in Jeremiah. I will also look ahead to discuss their punishment (70 years) and God’s cup of wrath (ch.25). We will also look at the slave situation with Zedekiah that led to his death in ch.34.
